This is the final phase of a decades long project that involved reconstruction of 15 miles of roadway, ramps, and bridges that began in the 1990s and stretches from the Bronx to the Connecticut State line. The Last Mile project began in 2018 and covers The New England Thruway (I-95) from Exit 22 to the Connecticut state line. Work included replacement of the Cross Westchester Expressway ramp bridge, resurfacing of the Byram River Bridge, and paving of portions of Playland Parkway, as well as construction of the Grace Church Street Bridge. When completed, the project will conclude road reconstruction along I-95, multiple ramp reconstructions at the interchange with the Cross Westchester Expressway, rehabilitation of the Purchase Street Bridge and Boston Road Bridge, and an ongoing noise wall reconstruction.
