Working closely with the Board of Education, a $98 million bond was approved during an economically challenged time. Work is proceeding with significant saving to the District by taking advantage of specific bidding strategies.
Work includes reconstruction of the facade of a SHPO school with the first cathodic protection system at a NYS public school, additions and renovations at the Middle School and High School (1,300 students) and new outdoor athletic facilities. Efforts were made to include sustainable construction in all aspects of the project.
In 2012 Long Beach was hard hit by Superstorm Sandy. This has resulted in over $24 million in reconstruction work. Savin worked closely with FEMA and other agencies and coordinating the work to meet the schedule of the District.
This was followed with a new Administration building.
